Latest Development Updates – 2014 January

Good news, good news. After a small break for the holidays, I started working on VirtualGamepad again. After fixing a few issues, I’ve been working very hard to increase the performance, mainly for all of those who own atom tablets (Dell Venue 8 Pro for example).

I had a break yesterday and I’m happy with the result, my CPU and FPS consumption should diminished considerably allowing a smoother experience and better gaming. So expect a new version within a week. I’ve also donated to another “hardware” related project and will soon integrate that in VirtualGamepad. In the meanwhile, I would really like to see what you are doing with VirtualGamepad 😉 Screenshot and YouTube videos would be nice for me to see !

  • This program is amazing! Just what i needed to game on my 8 inch Lenovo tablet. Keep up the amazing work! Has been flawless using it to control my playstation emulator.

  • I think having the cursor reset to the middle of the screen when using the view controls will help make some games more fluid, Guild Wars 2 for example. Great work so far by the way!

    • I had better result when using the touch screen modes to control the camera but I agree it had an effect on performance. That’s what I’ve been working on with great results so far. The CPU consumption should be lower and FPS should be higher… That’s what I’ve been able to achieved in Portal (as my test). My main concern is to be able to allow users to use a real mouse with virtualgamepad and because of that, I have to manage around the touchscreen to allow mouse to interact with the game. I see what you mean with the cursor reset on camera view controls. Thanks for the feedback ! Really appreciate it !

        • I’m really happy to hear that, I already saw an improvement on my i5, but was wondering if other devices would benefit too… thanks for the feedback.

  • No worries, I’m glad to help out. Also maybe in future you could tweak the UI so we can select glyths, buttons etc. with more of a grid layout instead of the drop down boxes.

    • Yeah, the editor is not what I had in mind at first, it was put out as a working in progress editor. I want to stabilize the main engine first, then I’ll improve the editor. For now it does what it has to do 😉

  • Love this app, very happy to pay you for quality work. Would you consider enabling an auto start and minimize function at boot? not horrible to have to do it manually now nut maybe we could avoid the uc prompt if its run by system at login… thanks for making my dell venue 8pro a more gamecentric tab!
